Palm Springs Animal Facility
The new Palm Springs Animal control facility represents a unique partnership between the City of Palm Springs and the non-profit Friends of the Shelter. Located on a 3-acre site across from the City’s Demuth Park, this 21,000 SF project features a centralized indoor/outdoor kennel design with public adoption access provided within and open courtyard/garden setting.
The facility includes secure animal control work areas, separate public intake and adoption lobbies, a training room for education and evening uses, a large canine socialization room and a fully equipped clinic for in-house medical procedures – all housed within a design that reflects the regional character of the unique Palm Springs community. The project has been designed as an equivalent ‘silver’ LEED facility. Project bids were received in mid February 2010 and came in $100,000 under budget.
