Walnut Creek Civic Center
The Walnut Creek Civic Center project added approximately 51,000 square feet to an existing City Hall and Police facility built in 1972. The three-story addition dramatically creates a modern counterpoint to the existing brick building while integrating a series of radiused glass curtain walls that overlook the City’s War Memorial Public Plaza
A complex, two phase construction sequence was developed which allowed City staff to remain in operation for the public during construction of the addition and the subsequent renovation and seismic strengthening of the existing building. This sequencing allowed the city to avoid an expensive double move.
